The 2014 DanceAfrica festival begins at Bedford Stuyvesant Restoration Plaza with the annual community welcome for the visiting company, Groupe Bakomanaga, featuring free performances by students from Restoration who have participated in the DanceAfrica education program.

This year marks the 18th anniversary of the BAM-Bedford Stuyvesant Restoration Corporation partnership. Through this collaboration, more than 4,000 students have been given the opportunity to study the performing, visual, and literary arts as well as the cultural history of several countries in Africa and its diaspora.

Bedford Stuyvesant Restoration Corporation, the nation's first community development corporation, is dedicated to improving the quality of life of the people of Central Brooklyn and fostering growth and development through economic, cultural, educational, and social ventures.
