A New Leaf
- 7PM
The great Elaine May wrote, directs, and stars in one of the funniest—and darkest—comedies of the 1970s. She’s the impossibly nerdy, botanist-heiress who becomes the mark of Walter Matthau’s fortune-hunting fallen aristocrat, who sees marriage and murder as his ticket out of bankruptcy. What plays out is both deliciously deadpan and—thanks largely to May’s endearing performance—oddly touching.
